Cecilia Satterthwaite and Cas Meadowfield on Anne McCaffrey (science fiction/ fantasy writer)

I came across her work in the local library, in a trilogy: Restoree, Decision at Doona, and The Ship Who Sang. She made science sound so exciting as her characters experienced it first hand. McCaffrey’s writing is important to me because it made me think science was some thing I would like to do. So when ill health struck I decided to do a science degree doing mostly physics courses, plus geology to make up the credits. My writing reflects my studies as I’m interested in how the environment effects people… Reading for pleasure shouldn’t be dismissed as frivolous…you never know where it might lead.
