What is ‘WomanTheory’?
WomanTheory started as a challenge on twitter to name three women theorists, using the hashtag #womantheory.
Within hours, twitter was full of the names of great women theorists, thinkers and writers. See the story of how things erupted here.
Through our twitter account and this website want to galvanise feminist energy and creativity to keep disrupting the gendered academy.
Who ‘is’ WomanTheory?
This movement was initiated by Imogen Tyler (Lancaster) and colleagues at the Centre for Gender and Woman’s Studies at Lancaster. The idea for this website emerged from discussions between them and Kim Allen (MMU) and Sarah Burton (Goldsmiths).
However, WomanTheory is a collective project and movement and this site will be space for (hopefully) many many voices. So join the revolution:
- Follow us on twitter
- Tweet your favourite women writers, thinkers, theorists (#womantheory)
- Blog for us: This website is a space to share your stories, thoughts and reflections on anything from the role and significance of women theorists to your work; to the feminist politics of citation and the production of knowledge; to the gendered academy. If you want to write for us, then send your ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org
